Port of Waterford

The Port of Waterford Belview facility is the most modern port in Ireland.
Located on the River Suir, 12 miles from the open sea, Waterford Port is the nearest major Irish port to mainland Europe, providing a saving to shippers of both time and fuel.
Strategically located in relation to the Republic of Ireland's main markets in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe and is a natural hub for the integration of port, shipping, road and rail freight services. Waterford is a very attractive location for Ireland’s importers and exporters.
Waterford Port handles lift-on/lift-off(lo-lo), bulk liquid, bulk solid and breakbulk/general cargoes. The Belview facility location ensures sailing time shortest between Waterford and the UK/Continent , helping lower costs.
Waterford Port operates 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
In 2008, cargo throughput was 2.5 million tonnes.
Developed in the 1990’s, the facility now offers over 890 metres of unbroken quay. This consists of:
• 450 metres of Container berths
two high-output wide-span gantry cranes
one container reachstacker truck
and ancillary handling equipment
• 400 metre General Cargo berths (including new 193 metre extension)
• The General cargo berths are serviced by:
a Liebherr 250 portal crane, with a 65 tonne lift capacity,
20 cubic metre grab
11 cubic metre cactus grab
a motorised hopper with a 70 tonne capacity
other relevant bulk handling equipment.
• A 120 metre private general cargo berth (contact Stokestown Port Services)
serviced by a Liebherre crane with a 20 cubic metre grab
400 T/hr pneumatic ship discharge unit
•Substantial warehousing in the immediate vicinity of the port.
• Land available for warehousing and port related developments
4 miles downstream of Waterford
12 miles from the mouth of the estuary
