Overall I was very pleased with my stay in Lawlors Hotel. Its a nice, central, Dungarvan town hotel to stay in. I couldn't fault the gorgeous food, the friendliness of 99% of the staff and the great time I had at my cousin's wedding. We stayed in room 305 and it was very comfortable, warm, clean, and nicely decorated. If I could give 4 & a half stars, instead of 4 I would. I'd take off only a minor half a star for 3 small things. 1. The ensuite bathroom needs an overhaul badly - the showerhead is almost falling off the wall and the black toilet seat is ugly, cheap looking, and was also broken. 2. The toilet facilities off the main reception are downstairs and through a carpetted area which lets the niceness of the rest of the hotel down. It looks run down, in need of renovation and worst of all smelled of urine. 3. One of the waitresses was quite abrupt/rude in her manner as she passed around the canapes earlier in the evening at the wedding. She may have just been having a bad day! Overall I would recommend a stay at this hotel :-)

We really enjoyed our stay, especially the view of the marina and the traditional music in the bar on Tuesday evening. We did ask if there was a laundrette in town and were told there wasn't, but we later found one just next door to The Moorings. Just wanted to pass that along in case anyone else asks in the future.

Value for money proposition was acceptable as the hotel is in an excellent location. The reception and restaurant area in the hotel is in good condition. However, it is quite a trek through narrow, dated corridors and stairs to get to the room. The room itself was functional but quite dated. The free WiFi was a bonus when compared with the rates that you need to pay in other hotels in the general area (where WiFi can be as much as €12.50 per day). Overall - this is good value for money. It is in a really good location. However, if you are into more plush rooms or room facilities then this is probably not the best option for you.

Great hotel, brilliant potential and will be coming back again. The first time I stayed, I had dinner, which was wonderful, breakfast which was fantastic and the staff were extremely friendly. My second stay was good, but I managed to get the last room available. It was so different to the one I had stayed in before and I was very disappointed. The bathroom tiles were cracked, the curtain pole was falling in the middle, there was an old air-con in the room and the hall to get to the room had shocking carpet, and lighting. I was let down by this, as the reception and bar is lovely, I didn't realise how run down the other part of the hotel was. If I had not stayed here before and had not had such an impeccable stay, first time round, I probably would not be coming back after the second stay.
